A New Year, A New Adventure!

So by now, a lot of you know my exciting news... But for those of you who don't, as of January 6, I am changing jobs. I am super-duper excited for the change and can't wait to start my year working a "normal" job. For the last 9 1/2 years, I have been working as a dispatcher for the state of utah. I love the job, don't get me wrong... I didn't mind the rotating shifts, working weekends, holidays, birthday and missing out on a lot of things, I did it because I loved the job and frankly I am great at what I do. But a few months ago, 3/4 of the way into my 3rd swing shift rotation, Brinley called me at work crying because she wanted her mommy to put her to bed. It broke my heart, there was nothing I could do, I couldn't leave work... I had a job to do...

It was that night that I had realized that I has been very selfish over the last few years. Never once did I look at, or care for that matter, how my job/schedule affected my family.

So for the next few months, I applied for several jobs... got turned down several times... I was getting very frustrated! Then on December 1, it was announced that the UHP was going to hire for an office specialist in the local office! My heart lept, and I submitted my application the first day the job was posted! Well, needless to say it turned out very well and I have taken a transfer to the Uhp to work in their office.

This will be the best thing for my family and for me. I still love dispatching, and wish I could still find a way to do it after I transfer, but that isn't an option right now. I was able to transfer into the position, without quitting, so I keep my current rate of pay, all my years of service with the department and leave status. GREAT!! I was eggstatic when I found out the transfer/job was mine, but what melted my heart was when I told Brinley that mommy got a new job... When I asked her if she understood, she said she did and I asked her what that meant, and she said, "Now you will put me to bed every night!"

Ok, so I thought I would get better at blogging once my schedule was semi normal. But boy was I wrong. Don't get me wrong, plenty of things happen that are funny and truly blog-worthy, but I think I have lost my motivation. With every thing that has happened this year, I just want to hide until January. With my dad losing his job, Brad really hurting his back and being out of work for a while, and trying to juggle life and a single income for a few months...whew I am worn out! Well I am having quite the nice pity party over here...anyone want to join...

Creepy Crawlies!

So the other day, Tucker was outside barking like mad, and then I went out to see what the problem was... I saw this!!

NASTY!! EWW I hate spiders!! Since Brad wasn't home, I did what any self respecting girl would do....I called my DAD!! Unfortunately he didn't seem to see the emergency of the situation and Just told me to kill it! Pshaw! Me kill a spider.. NOT HARDLY. So I did what again any self respecting girl would do... I called Brad, and left him a voice mail saying there was a creepy
looking spider outside that that he needed to kill it when he got home from work. Needless to say he did...

BTW anyone know what kind of spider this is. I have never seen one like this before, and really
don't want to ever see one like it again.

My New Ride

Yep I did it! I saved up all my money and bought a Scooter!! I am super psyched! It is a fun little thing! Even Brad has taken his turn scooting around on it. I will post some pictures when I get a chance! The biggest thing that excites me is that I was able to pay for it all in cash! You should have seen the look on the sales lady's face when she asked if I wanted to finance it, and I said, nope I have cash. Let me tell you paying with cash is great! They were so appreciative that they threw in a bunch of extras for me! A nice matching helmet, ($80 value), 1st oil change for free, ($20 value) and a 1 year warranty ($100 value). Yup my mom was right, it feels much better to save for something than to extend yourself beyond your means! Just call me Motor Scooter Mama!!
